One and Only Palmilla - Los Cabo MexicoMexico's Five Best Romantic Honeymoon Resorts

Hip boutique hotel, beach resort or 16th century mansion - Mexico really does have it all - everything you might want for your once in a lifetime experience.

A few select choices are offered below.

Los Cabos' Best Honeymoon Resort

One and Only Palmilla

Popular with the Hollywood crowd and considered The "Jewel Of Baja" - and located at  what was once the tropical hideaway for the likes of Hemingway and Harlow, the serenely private and sensually elegant One&Only Palmilla features expansive ocean-facing accommodation, each with veranda, sunbeds, and indulgent amenities.

Internationally acclaimed as the quintessential embodiment of elegance, every need is attended to with gracious hospitality, and the distinctive artistry of Mexico is discovered at every turn, from wrought iron as delicately patterned as lace to massive wooden doors weathered with age for authentic beauty.

A verdant oasis on the tip of the Baja Peninsula, where azure waters greet the mountainous desert and the Pacific Ocean merges with the Sea of Cortez.

Here, the gracious style of Old Mexico - with its red-tiled roofs, whitewashed walls, and idyllic setting of exquisite fountains - is quietly nestled amidst swaying palms, bird of paradise and other tropical bloom.

Mazatlan's Best Honeymoon Hotel:
Casa Lucila

Luxury, style, not your standard beachfront hotel . . .

The Casa Lucila Hotel is located on the oceanfront in the historic center of old Mazatlan. This property stands near the historic district's art galleries, restaurants, nightlife and boutique shops. A principal cultural and tourist attraction, the Angela Peralta Theater is located close to the hotel.

This property was once one of Mazatlan's private mansions, originally built by a German family in the early 1800s. The current owner restored the building using old photographs as a guide and employing local craftsmen to duplicate the original facade.

Dining options include Le Sorelle restaurant. Fernando jazz bar plays soft jazz selections and offers a variety of Australian, American, Argentine and Chilean wines. Wireless internet access is complimentary throughout the hotel.

Piccolino spa incorporates Swedish, sports, shiatsu, stone and lymphatic massage techniques. Treatment methods include reflexology, aromatherapy and the use of natural essential oils. A third-floor infinity pool overlooks the Pacific Ocean's Mazatlan coast.

Casa Lucila offers only eight guestrooms - with courtyard, pool or Pacific Ocean views, some from the vantage of furnished balconies. Modern design elements include neutral color schemes complemented with dark-wood furnishings. Beds are draped beneath fine Italian linens. Bathrooms contain jetted tubs and/or walk-in, glass-door showers, bathrobes, and Bulgari toiletries. Flat-screen plasma televisions are provided in all accommodations. In-room safes are provided. Rooms include coffeemakers.

Expert tip. The hotel site was once the location of O'Brien's restaurant. The restaurant's guest list included notables such as John Wayne, Robert Mitchum and Ernest Hemingway. The restaurant closed in 1959, and the building remained deserted until 2005 when it was purchased and renovated by the current owners.
